The Filter output area allows you to set the display to preview certain stages of the ArionFX filter individually.
Preview: Filter toolchain
This is the default mode. It displays the final, combined result of all the ArionFX stages.
Preview: Clamped pixels
This mode displays a grayscale version of the image, and the pixels that are clamped by the tonemapping operator during the HDR-to-LDR conversion in magenta.
This mode is useful to tell which pixels are over-exposed (i.e., have a luminance greater than 1).
Preview: Heat map
This mode displays the image in cold-to-warm tones depending on their luminance.
Unlike the previous mode, this one uses a log-scale so clamped pixels still exhibit some shading.
Map: Lens aperture
This mode displays the Aperture map set in the Input tab.
Map: Lens obstacle
This mode displays the Obstacle map set in the Input tab.
Map: Lens dirt
This mode displays the Dirt map set in the Input tab.
Debug: Upcast mask
This mode visualizes the inner workings of the Upcast operator in RGB.
It masks the pixels that are being scaled up in green, and the pixels being scaled down in red. Unaffected pixels are masked in blue.
You can use this mode to better set the Upcast thresholds.
Debug: Iris settings
This mode displays the iris shape based on the current settings from the Input tab.
Debug: Aperture x Obstacle
This mode displays the resulting aperture (i.e., mapped or unmapped iris) combined with the Obstacle map, if enabled.
Debug: Diffraction pattern
This mode displays the Diffraction pattern caused by the Aperture x Obstacle field using a heat map.
Debug: Bloom & Glare overlay
This mode isolates the result of the Bloom & Glare effects for easier configuration.
If you have defined a selection in Photoshop before starting the ArionFX filter, this option will constrain ArionFX to said selection.
